A couple days ago I was invited to a little get together dinner called Dinner En Rouge. Dinner En Rouge is an event my friend Michelle started last year and decided to make it a yearly summer event.
Michelle had attended Diner En Blanc one year and she thought it was a cool concept. However, she thought it was just too pricey. So she decided to start her own thing where she could hang out with her friends but with a theme where it was still casual and her friends can still have a chance to dress up and go out.
So if you haven't figured it out the theme is red. The decorator this year was another friend of mine, Vanessa, who did an amazing job decorating the table and the event was held at my friend Tricia's backyard garden. It was a small group of ten persons. Before hand, each person was given a food item to carry along with their own cutlery, wine glass, and water goblet. I was asked to carry a bottle of wine and a bottle of non alcoholic sparkling drink.
In the garden Vanessa set up the dining table and chairs and put up some pepper lights in the trees. For the dining table she chose a red table cloth and laid out some daisy flowers and an orchid for the center piece. Tea light candles were also laid along the middle of the table. Vanessa made these cute little hand made cards that had information about three various plants: peppermint, rosemary, and basil and placed them inside pocket made napkins.

The food was amazing and the company was great. We had great conversation thanks to Vanessa and her conversation starters. Would you believe the dinner lasted for 5 hours? Time goes by fast when your having fun! Check out the video below from that night and don't be afraid to plan your dinner with friends.
