My very good friend was visiting Jamaica and I haven't seen her in years! She invited me to crash her vacation so what kind of friend would I be to say no? Besides, vacations are no fun by yourself and a little company goes a long way.
So due to unforeseen events, okay maybe it was expected, but we literally got to the inn in the dead of night. Needless to say, they were expecting us. Check-in process was quick and we were shown to our room. After a very long day, which I wont get into, we were extremely tired but excited to roam around the next day.
The hotel only has suites and cottages which are spacious and very tasteful. You guessed it, the cottages cost more but the suites are just as nice. so you can rest assured all rooms have a balcony. The bedroom or should I say, the suite was calming and nice. It was only white linens and the room smelled really nice. The suite is equipped with a queen sized bed, bathroom, walk-in closet and a balcony which seemed to serve as the living and dining room. We had an ocean view so it was very nice where you could overlook to the beach and the garden. The room is equipped with both an AC and ceiling fan. Oh, I almost forgot, on the balcony they had a little basket that had two varieties of mosquito repellent, which we were glad for because at sunset we felt one and two mosquitoes, so we appreciated how thoughtful they were to provide that.
This has to be one of the best beaches I've been to in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The beach is secluded and only reserved for guests so its very peaceful. The sand is well manicured meaning not a strand of seaweed or trash can be seen anywhere. The beach chairs are strategically placed along with umbrellas and you will never have to fight for a lounge chair. You can also find hammocks along the beach which is great for a nap. Can I just say this had to be the quietest beach I've ever been to. You only heard birds and the sound of the ocean, perfect for relaxing. They also had complimentary beach activities such as kayaking, sunfish sailing, snorkeling and paddle boarding. We definitely tried the kayaking. Between 11 am and 12 noon guests are served complimentary drinks on the beach. Believe me this place is the ultimate in relaxation.
Check out my vlog below that sums up my time at Jamaica Inn
For those who like all inclusive package, this is not that type of hotel but for those who want the ultimate relaxation and enjoy peace and quiet this is the hotel for you. The beach is well kept and is very great for reading or just lounging around.
Even though you have to pay for extra things such as food (knowing us we found freebies here and there) for example at like I said around 11 am they hand out free alcoholic drinks for an hour. They have a meet and greet mixer where you can get free hors d'oeuvres and drinks. They even had a free yoga session overlooking the ocean under the serenity of nature which was amazing! The yoga class was held at the spa and it was just so quiet and peaceful, we definitely were zen after that class. So to find the freebies be sure to check the daily activities note which is delivered to the room daily.

So while lounging on the beach, an attendant from the hotel approached me and asked me if I would like to see baby turtles. I love animals so of course I jumped at the opportunity. It was myself and another guest of the hotel that went on this little adventure to the other side of the hotel. This is where he explained to us the turtle project that they have. This turtle project works to monitor and protect the endangered Hawksbill sea turtles. The Oracabessa Bay Turtle Project's huge success has resulted in more than 100 nests and 16,000 hatch-lings being recorded yearly. Many guests are able to witness the turtle hatch-lings on their beach (in a controlled environment of course).
I was able to hold a baby turtle for a short time and it was sooooooo cuuuuuute! The eggs had already hatched however it wasn't time to release them to sea yet as the turtles eyes were still closed and still too young. The attendant showed us where they hide them surrounded by mesh wire in the sand away from dangerous intruders such as dogs or cats which have a heightened smell and tend to eat the turtles if they are not protected properly. Don't worry the baby turtles get round the clock care where attendants regularly check and make sure none of the nests have been tampered with and when its time for them to go to sea they make sure they are guided safely to sea. If you are interested in learning more about this project or would like to donate to the cause you can check the Jamaica Inn website.
All in all my stay was incredible. I definitely de-stressed while I was here. So if your looking for somewhere to unwind and be stress free, then this is the place for you. The only downside was the price but then again it's the price you pay for luxury, right?
